The Way Things Are (Branches)
Roswell Art Museum, Building 222, 2017
Materials from El Rito Creek, Abiquiu NM
Process is critical – the rigor of hauling roots, rocks and branches from the arroyo, followed by months of debarking and rasping to understand the essence of this natural material that has a mind of its own. These moments are the power of process, and became the development of my alphabet of branches.
At The Roswell Art Museum Installation, as part of their 50th Anniversary, I wanted to send the bottom up and bring the top down, addressing both environment and architecture – site to site.
