Spacial Relations
Ongoing
“Spatial Relations” is an alphabet of 35 shapes that describes the relationship of object to movement. The circle represents the object and the line represents movement. The language or text that names each shape is a preposition, a word that shows a relationship between two objects or between an object and a movement.
In school I memorized the prepositions to the tune of Yankee Doodle and never forgot them. They became a metaphor for a big question about the spaces between points. Is the rhythm of a song created by the notes or by the space in time between the notes? Is the news determined by events or by reactions to events? Something happens between two points that often becomes more important than the points themselves.
